Did you know that Banana you're eating might just be dirty?!
It might just be stained by the suffering of many Davao residents. You see, down in Davao, they don't just aerially spray poison on bananas.
They also spray it on PEOPLE.
We need your support as we fight to ban AERIAL SPRAYING of pesticides in Davao that, intentionally or not, is making the locals suffer from disease and even death.
'Di SILA peste. Eh ikaw?FAST FACTS:TIMELINE OF EVENTS SUMMARY OF ISSUESTESTIMONIAL20 REASONS FOR BANPOINTS OF ACTIONPLEASE SIGNONLINE PETITIONAlthough, plantations produce bananas with very good appearance, the health and well-being of the people and the environment, however, continue to be compromised. In Davao City, the local government banned aerial spraying of pesticides in the city's banana plantations in response to a growing number of people in the surrounding communities getting sick with exposure to the pesticide drift. The companies, however, filed a case before the courts claiming an infringement of their right to do business. The regional court upheld the ordinance but the court of appeals decided to impose a temporary restraining order on the ordinance allowing the companies to resume aerial spraying again. The people of Davao are asking the Supreme Court to intervene. Though this decision directly affects Davao, a decision in favor of the banana plantation owners will have national implications including the lifting of the bans of all provinces in the country. This will make most of the Philippines susceptible to the harmful effects of pesticide drift. Are bananas more important than lives?More accurately, are profits of companies more important than welfare of the people? | Photos | Sep 19, 2008 |

Maraming problema tungkol sa saging galing sa Mindanao, at maraming saging galing sa Pilipinas dito sa Japan...masakit. salamat sa invitahin ninyo : ) masaya ako na sumama ako sa campaign na ito. |
